The Story
Kanakadhara Stotram is stotram written by Adi Shankaracharya. In this text, he pleads with Goddess Lakshmi to bless an old lady.
One day, Adi Shankaracharya was doing biksha, or begging for alms. He went to an old lady's home. She had nothing but a dried gooseberry. She offered it to Adi Shankaracharya. He was struck by her simplicity and generosity and wrote this sloka as a prayer to Goddess Lakshmi
